1 About Department

Department of Chemical Engineering at SAL Engineering & Technical Institute, SAL Education started functioning in the year 2014. The department offers under graduate course (B.E.) in Chemical Engineering. SAL Education is located in the heart of Chemical hubs not only of Gujarat but of country also, Chemical Engineering students get a chance to interact with local chemical companies and get connected through summer internships, regular plant visits to industries as well as Industry Defined Projects (IDP as per GTU norms).

The department is endowed with young, vibrant and dynamic faculty having considerable teaching, industrial and research experience to impart high quality teaching and research in Chemical Engineering.

Chemical Engineering is a discipline influencing numerous areas of technology. In a broader term, chemical engineers conceive and design processes to produce, transform and transport materials — beginning with experimentation in the laboratory followed by implementation of the technology in full-scale production. Scope of Chemical Engineering is too vast. It ranges from core Oil and Gas, Mineral processing, Pharma, Polymers to Pollution Control.

The Chemical Engineer must have a complete and quantitative understanding of both the engineering and scientific principles underlying these technological processes. This is reflected in the curriculum of the Chemical Engineering Department, which includes the study of applied mathematics, physical and chemical sciences, material and energy balances, thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, energy and mass transfer, separations technologies, chemical reaction kinetics and reactor design, and process design.

The Department is committed to achieving excellence in academic and other curricular and co— curricular activities , while at the same time providing a friendly and supportive atmosphere. Our goal is to provide to our students strong fundamentals complemented by professional skills including communication. Our other important goal is to produce students and faculty who will become leaders in their areas.

Our outstanding student-to-faculty ratio facilitates personalized teaching and research guidance activities. We strive to maintain an environment that enables students to identify and pursue their personal and professional goals within an innovative educational and research program that is rigorous as well as flexible. We also affirm our commitment to the creation, development, and organization of fundamental knowledge, and to provide technical service to the community.

The department houses various laboratories catering to the needs of the curriculum. The department aims at inculcating lifelong learning skills in the students

The general chemistry, Organic chemistry & Unit Processes, Physical & Inorganic Chemistry laboratory is designed to support and illustrate chemical concepts studied in the lecture portion of the course, as well as to introduce important laboratory techniques and encourage analytical thinking.

The laboratory work of Chemical Process Industries deals with determination of components from chemicals, component present in waste stream and also deals with preparation of chemicals from their raw materials.

The heat transfer laboratory is to provide students with the necessary skills to conduct experiments on conduction and convection of heat; collect data, perform analysis and interpret results to draw valid conclusions through standard test procedures The lab is designed also to determine thermal properties and performance of radiation heat transfer and heat exchanger.

Various Laboratories are:

  • Chemistry and CPI Lab

  • CRE Lab

  • FFO Lab

  • IPC Lab

  • MO Lab

  • MTO Lab

  • PHT Lab

  • PRPC Lab
